Riding Disciplines at Campbell Springs Farm Hunter/Jumper- Hunters are judged subjectively on the degree to which they meet an ideal standard of manners, style, and way of going. Conversely, jumper classes are scored objectively, based entirely on a numerical score determined only by whether the horse attempts the obstacle, clears it, and finishes the course in the allotted time. Jumper courses often are colorful, and at times, quite creatively designed. Jumper courses tend to be much more complex and technical than hunter courses, because riders and horses are not being judged on style. Through lessons with our experienced trainers, you will learn to jump a series of fences of varying heights and widths with your horse (or ours). Beginners start with small crossrails while our more advanced students jump larger fences. Eventing is an Equestrian Triathlon, in that it combines the three different disciplines of Dressage, Cross Country & Stadium Jumping in one competition. It is an Olympic Sport that evolved from the testing of cavalry horses for war. Dressage is a path and destination of competitive horse training. Its purpose is to develop a horse's natural athletic ability and willingness to perform, thereby maximizing its potential as a riding horse. At the peak of a dressage horse's gymnastic development, it can smoothly respond to a skilled rider's minimal aids by performing the requested movement while remaining relaxed and appearing effortless. Dressage is occasionally referred to as "Horse Ballet". Through dressage lessons with one of our trainers you will learn how to work in better harmony with your horse. During your lessons we will utilize a series of exercises in suppling, balancing and obedience to help create the rhythm and energy necessary to produce a smooth, flowing, precise Dressage Test.
Our instructors focus on safety no matter your level or your discipline. Please see our instructors page to learn more about our trainers. |
